Man charged with murder of Michael McConville

A Co Armagh pensioner has appeared in court accused of the murder of a man in his seventies.

Appearing in the dock of Banbridge Magistrates Court, sitting in Newry, Malachy Quinn (67) from the Annaghmore Road in Crossmaglen was charged with the murder of Michael McConville on June 15.

None of those facts were opened in court but it is understood the body of Mr McConville was found with head injuries in the bathroom of a house in Annaghmare Road.

In court on Thursday, Quinn’s defence lawyer confirmed there was no application for bail and accordingly, District Judge Eamon King remanded him into custody and adjourned the case to July 17.
