Former first minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, is set to appear at this year’s Féile an Phobail, it has been announced.
Sturgeon will be in conversation with Doireann Ní Ghlacáin who is co-host of the popular podcast How to Gael.
Ireland’s Future chairperson Niall Murphy said: “We are delighted to confirm that former First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon will take part in an Ireland’s Future event in July as part of Féile an Phobail.
“Following recent election results in Scotland and Wales, there is a growing synergy between independence movements and political parties.
“In the time ahead, Ireland’s Future plans to work closely with our Celtic friends. We want to share expertise and experience, and we intend to learn from Scotland’s experience of holding an independence referendum in 2014.
“This event is part of that learning and our work with Scotland and Wales will intensify over the coming period.”
Kevin Gamble, Director of Féile an Phobail, said: “Once again Féile an Phobail is delighted to partner with Ireland’s Future.
“The Féile summer school in 2026 is shaping up to be the best one yet and this event with Nicola Sturgeon and Doireann Ní Ghlacáin will take place on Thursday 30th July at 7pm, which is the opening night of this year’s summer school.
“Like many of our events, we expect this to be well attended and we encourage anybody thinking of joining us to arrive early.
“The full programme of events will be released shortly so check our social media for details on other events in this year’s Féile”
