A MAN'S body has been discovered on waste ground in south Belfast.

The body was found near the Holiday Inn close to Sandy Row last night.

Police and forensics officers were at the scene late yesterday evening and a large section of waste ground was sealed off.

It is believed that a woman, thought to be a staff member at the hotel, spotted the body and raised the alarm.

People living near the scene suggested that body find may be linked to an incident on Thursday night involving a police chase that ended with two people being taken to hospital.

A PSNI spokesman said last night: "Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in the Hope Street area of Belfast this afternoon.

"There are no further details at this time."
