A “significant” cannabis growing operation has been disrupted by police in Co Down.

Cannabis plants in various stages of growth were found during a search in the North Street area of Newtownards last Sunday. It is estimated the cannabis had a street value of around £40,000.

Ventilation, hydroponic and lighting equipment were also recovered in the search, and it was found that electricity had been bypassed at the property.

A PSNI spokesperson said: ”If you have any information about the use or supply of drugs you can contact police on 101 or report online using the non-emergency reporting form.”
