A 31-year old man is to stand trial next year on charges including the attempted murder of Steven Ogilvie.
Hadi Alodid appeared in the dock of Belfast Crown Court on Friday where he was charged with three offences dating back to June.
Dressed in a grey tracksuit, the foreign national was joined in the dock by an Arabic translator.
With an address at Duncairn Avenue in north Belfast, Alodid confirmed his identity to a court clerk.
He was then charged with attempting to murder Steven Ogilvie on June 8, 2026.
Asked how he pleaded to the charge, Alodid replied “not guilty.”
The accused was then charged with possessing a knife in the vicinity of Kinnaird Close in Belfast on the same date.
Alodid also denied this charge.
The third charge put to Alodid was behaving in a threatening and abusive manner which would be likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm on June 9, 2026.

When asked how he pleaded to this charge, Alodid again replied “not guilty.”
Defence barrister Richard McConkey KC told Judge Philip Gilpin that it was hoped some witnesses can be agreed ahead of the trial.
A Crown barrister estimated that the trial will last around two weeks and following this, Judge Gilpin set a date for it to start on February 1, 2027.
Alodid was then addressed by Judge Gilpin, who said: “You have pleaded not guilty to all three counts on the bill of indictment.
“Your trial has been fixed for the 1st of February of next year and the matter will be reviewed in court on a number of occasions before then.”
The Belfast Recorder also told Alodid it was “important” that he kept in touch with his legal team “in order to ensure that the matter is properly prepared for trial.”
The case was listed for next mention on December 4, with Mr McConkey saying it would not be necessary for Alodid to attend on that day.
The hearing concluded when Alodid was handcuffed and led from the dock and back into custody by two prison staff.
