Body of woman recovered from Ulster Canal in Monaghan

The body of a woman in her 20s has been recovered from a canal in Co Monaghan.

The discovery was made on Sunday at the Ulster Canal in Monaghan town.

A Gardaí spokesperson said officers are “investigating all the circumstances” surrounding the discovery.

The body was recovered from the canal at around 8.30am on Sunday and taken to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan.

“The post-mortem examination has been carried out, and initial findings have been relayed to investigating Gardaí. The focus of the investigation will now shift towards compiling a file for the Coroner,” the spokesperson said.



“No further information is available at this time.”
