COUNTY Tyrone distillery Woodlab, which makes Symphonia Spirits, has landed a new listing deal with Tesco.

The Moy operation, founded by organic chemist Dr Ulrich Dyer, has secured a deal which while see Symphonia Irish Apple Gin on shelves of most Tesco stores across the north and on the Tesco website.

It comes just days after Newry’s Two Stacks announced a deal with Tesco to stock its ‘Dram In A Can’ whiskey products and its ‘Double Irish Cream Liqueur’.

Dr Dyer’s Woodlab Distillery makes its products using a unique cold distillation process, which he said uses just 2 per cent of the energy required for traditional distilling.

He said it makes it the most sustainable distillation process across the industry.

His Symphonia Irish Apple Gin, which uses the Armagh Bramley Apple, scored two-stars at the Great Taste awards.

“We are particularly excited by this listing as it comes on the cusp of an important phase of growth for the business, which will be supported by an ambitious marketing campaign and the development of new flavours,” said the distillery founder.

Woodlab’s unique distillation process uses three techniques - cold distillation, hydro-distillation, and molecular analysis – which extract botanicals with maximum efficiency, preserving their taste and quality.

“Our goal is for Symphonia Spirits to bottle the rich flavours of Northern Ireland, and to make this available across the world for people to enjoy. This is the first step in a new chapter for the business,” he said.

Tesco buying manager for the north, Michael Crealey, said: “I’ve been watching Symphonia’s growth over the past few years and am delighted that due to the company’s upscaling of production, we can now offer its award-winning, and distinctive Irish apple gin to our customers, giving our shoppers even greater choice and quality with our alcohol aisles.”
