Newry Irish whiskey bonder Two Stacks land double listing with Tesco

NEWRY-based Irish whiskey bonder and blender Two Stacks has announced a new deal with Tesco for two of its innovative drinks concepts.

The supermarket chain has confirmed its will stock Two Stacks’ Dram In A Can whiskey products and its ‘Double Irish Cream Liqueur’ on shelves across 26 stores.

It marks another milestone for the Newry business, which has already sold more than one million cans since coming to market in 2021 with its premium Irish whiskey in aluminium form.

Two Stacks was set up in 2020 by Shane McCarthy, Liam Brogan and Donal McLynn. It emerged from their export business, Ireland Craft Beverages.

At a time when Irish Whiskey is experiencing a resurgence and demand is growing for more up market spirit products, Two Stack’s decision to package premium Irish whiskey in a 100ml can, hit the right note.

The Newry business is also set to launch its premium Irish cream liqueur product with Tesco.

Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur is described as the world’s first Irish cream liqueur to blend four different styles of whiskey, using eight times more Irish whiskey than the market standard.

Tesco Northern Ireland’s buying manager, Michael Crealey, said the retailer is “thrilled” with the Two Stacks link up.

“Crafted with passion and precision, these locally produced, award-winning Irish whiskeys offer Tesco customers an exciting new tasting experience at the right price," he said.

“With Two Stacks Dram In A Can, we’re helping to make premium Irish whiskey more accessible to the everyday shopper, without breaking the bank or having to commit to a full-sized bottle.”

Shane McCarthy described the Irish whiskey category as “notoriously tight-knit”.
