FAST growing Belfast specialist contractor Pure Fitout has expanded its workforce to 80 staff after marking five years in business.

The company, which has been behind some of Dublin’s best known new hotels, was started in 2015 by west Belfast-native Ronan Higham.

Pure Fitout specializes in bespoke joinery, metal fabrication, modular buildings and metal glazing systems fabrication.

The firm, which lists Press Up, Five Guys and Boojum among its customers, last year moved into a new 25,000 sq ft workshop at Central Park in Mallusk, boosting its production capacity and workforce.

The latest set of accounts for the company show it hit £14.6 million in turnover in 2019, recording a pre-tax profit of £1.8m.

Managing director Ronan Higham, who now lives in Glenavy, said the company remains in a good position in 2020.

Despite the uncertainty within the hospitality sector due to the impact of Covid-19, he said the firm’s pipeline of work into 2021 remains strong.

“We have over 80 employees already on site every day, and we are continuing to recruit for skilled metal fabricators, joinery craftsmen, project managers, quantity surveyors and site managers to support the delivery of a strong pipeline of work as we move into 2021,” he said.

“We are currently on site with a number of projects including two new hotels in Ireland, gyms and co-working spaces, as well as signature venues in London, Yorkshire and France.

“From the start we have believed in continuous capital investment in the latest technologies to allow fast, innovative and effective responses to client needs. Bespoke delivery of interiors can often be required at a quick timeline and we are well used to working to a high standard, under these conditions.”

Describing the current market conditions as “challenging”, Mr Higham said Pure Fitout had introduced protection measures for employees.

He also said the firm has prepared itself for the impact Brexit from January 1 2021.

“Our client relationships have been fundamental to our success to date and this is reflected in our repeat business.

“We are always looking at our expansion options and during the next year we will be targeting new opportunities across Europe.”
