A man has died on a farm outside Derry.

The death happened at around 5pm yesterday at a farm on Coshquin Road, close to the Co Donegal border.

The man was named locally as farmer David Crockett.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSENI) is investigating.

"HSENI is aware of the incident and is making enquires. Our thoughts are with the deceased's family at this tragic time," a spokesman said.

Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson said people in the area had been shocked to learn of the man's death.

"An investigation into the cause of the man’s death is now underway," she said.

"My thoughts are with the family, friends and loved ones of the man who lost his life at this sad and difficult time."
