Group 2

Armagh 2-18 Limerick 1-6

Offaly 1-9 Mayo 0-12

ARMAGH are through to the knock-out stages of the All-Ireland premier junior series after a second comprehensive victory in Group Two.

They followed a first-round win over Mayo of 3-24 to 0-6 with a 2-18 to 1-6 victory over Limerick at the Box-It Athletic Grounds on Saturday.

Goals from Eimear Smyth and Orlagh Curry inside the opening 10 minutes set the Armagh girls on their way and, despite accumulating plenty of wides, they ran out 15 points better than the visitors.

Smyth’s goal came after just three minutes and Armagh already had two points registered by Sinéad Quinn and Smyth.

There were two more points on the board before Curry got the final touch on a goalmouth scramble to make it 2-4 to 0-0.

Limerick pulled players back and succeeded in keeping Armagh scoreless over the next 10 minutes with Valerie Shanahan opening their account with a point.

However, Armagh hit six further points in the 10 minutes before the break to lead by 2-10 to 0-3 at the turnover with Sinéad Quinn’s fourth point from play the pick of the scores.

Rachel Merry, Quinn and sub Katie Comiskey opened the gap further during the third quarter and 10 minutes from time they led by 2-15 to 0-4.

Limerick’s goal came from Anne Kennedy in injury-time and was a mere consolation score.

In the other game in the group, Mayo achieved a creditable 0-12 to 1-9 draw in Birr against Offaly. Armagh have to travel to Offaly for the last group game on Saturday week.

Group 3

Roscommon 4-17 Louth 0-12

Clare 3-27 Tyrone 0-2

Roscommon also picked up their second win of the competition and now progress with Clare to the knock-out stages.
