Zach Tuohy was named as one of Geelong’s best players after kicking a hat-trick of goals for Geelong in their pulsating 118-105 victory over his old team Carlton at the MCG on Saturday.
Sitting pretty at the top of the AFL ladder, the unbeaten Cats notched their seventh consecutive victory of the season in the round seven ANZAC (Australian & New Zealand Army Corps) marquee fixture.
The Portloaise veteran, 34, who is closing in on becoming one of only 103 players to have played 300 career games, finished the four quarters with 17 disposals (11 kicks & 6 handballs), 2 marks, and gained 415 metres.
Kerry’s Mark O’Connor, 27, tallied 6 disposals (1 kick & 5 handballs), 2 marks, and 4 tackles.
Also on Saturday, the Adelaide Crows crushed lowly North Melbourne 81-138 at Blundstone Arena in Hobart, Tasmania.
Cork dual star Mark Keane collected 14 disposals (12 kicks & 2 handballs) and 10 marks. The Crows are now up to twelfth on the season ladder but a 2-5 record for the season does not augur well for their finals hopes.
On the opposite side, Tyrone-born Aidan Corr, 29, tallied 15 disposals (8 kicks & 7 handballs) and 2 marks for the winless and rock-bottom Kangaroos.
On Sunday, Meath midfielder Conor Nash, 25, was on the Hawthorn side that was demolished 42-118 by the Sydney Swans at the MCG.
The Hawks are second bottom of the ladder with only one win for the season.
Nash, one of the elite midfielders in the AFL, collected 18 disposals (11 kicks & 7 handballs), 5 marks, and 5 tackles.
Elsewhere, Monaghan’s Karl Gallagher, 22, booted his second goal of the season for the Adelaide Crows reserves in their 16-point loss to North Adelaide in the SANFL (South Australian National Football league) at Prospect Oval on Saturday.
