SSE Airtricity Premier Division: St Patrick's Athletic v Derry City (Monday, 6.45pm)

Derry City boss Ruaidhrí Higgins believes they can turn their indifferent form around at free-scoring St Patrick's Athletic, in front of the Virgin Media cameras on Monday night.

The Candystripes had to settle for a share of the spoils against Damien Duff's Shelbourne on Friday evening, while the Saints secured their fourth victory in five games thanks to a comfortable 3-1 win at bottom side UCD.

Nevertheless Higgins is backing his players and hopes they'll find that killer instinct sooner rather than later.

"We aren't firing on all cylinders over the last couple of games, there's no doubt about that, but I suppose the clean-sheet steadies the ship," Higgins said after the Shels draw.

“There have been plenty of twists and turns so far this season and there will be plenty more to come.

“We wanted to stay in the mix while we recovered from several injury setbacks and we’ve managed to do that.

“I keep saying they’re all big games when you’re looking to challenge, and Monday’s is certainly that.

"I think we can go down to Inchicore and have a right go, because it's a place we enjoy going to and we'll look forward to it.

"St Pat's are the form side in the league at the minute, so we'll have to be right at it.

"John Daly has done great work since he has gone in there (taking over from Tim Clancy) and the players and the staff have done brilliant, which is a credit to them, so we are going to have to go down there and give it our all.

"We also know that we're capable of going to Inchicore and winning, we've got the players and we've got the character to go down there to win, because we've done it before, so we know how to do it down there, but listen it's going to be an extremely difficult game, but one that we can win."

The Candystripes welcome back midfielder Sadou Diallo from suspension for Monday's Bank Holiday encounter, while Higgins will have to decide whether duo Mark Connolly and Patrick McEleney can play another 90 minutes in quick succession after being missing for a number of months.

Elsewhere on Monday, champions Shamrock Rovers, who moved above City into top spot in the Premier Division, travel to Sligo Rovers.

Cork City, who have won their last three games in a row host Bohemians; basement men UCD travel to an out of sorts Dundalk, while Shels entertain Drogheda United.

In the First Division, Waterford travel to bottom side Kerry; Bray Wanderers make the trip to Athlone Town; Treaty United host Wexford and Cobh Ramblers face Longford Town, at St Colman's Park.
