Ethan Rafferty: Rough with the smooth for the lion-hearted goalkeeper. Caught in no-man's land for the Derry goal. Late kickouts gobbled up by the Derry midfield. Saved well from Paul Cassidy in the penalty shootout but was denied by a brilliant stop from opposite number Lynch. Scored two superb points from play. 7

Conor O’Neill: He had several marking assignments and kept Niall Toner and Benny Heron scoreless from play. Jinked inside his man to score a second half point himself. Well played. 7.5

Aaron McKay: Picked up Niall Loughlin and restricted him to a single point. Rogers’s first half flick-on eluded him for Derry’s goal. 7

Aidan Forker: Aggressive in the tackle he was at the heart of the Armagh second half fightback. Hit one wide, booked late in the second half and didn’t feature in extra-time. 6.5

Ciaran Mackin: Picked up Heron early on and was then switched onto Brendan Rogers – blunting his influence. He had a shot blocked in the first half but his second half score inspired his team-mates. 8

Greg McCabe: Used as a man-marker and as a sweeper, McCabe got forward to score a first half mark. 6.5

Jarlath Og Burns: Kept Ethan Doherty and then Paul Cassidy quiet and scored two points himself - might have gone for goal with the second one in extra-time. Won the ball for a crucial Rian O’Neill free as Armagh mounted a grandstand finish. 7.5

James Morgan: Ran himself into the ground for Armagh but found Shane McGuigan too hot to handle in extra-time. A series of fouls on the Slaughtneil frontman gave Derry the opening to get back into a game that was slipping away from them. 6

Shane McPartlan: A lot asked of the rookie against the Derry midfield of Conor Glass and Rogers and he found the going tough against Rogers, who scored 1-2, in the first half. Subbed early in the second half. 5.5

Jason Duffy: Worked hard in the middle third and covered a lot of ground. Sent one chance wide. 6

Barry McCambridge: Back in harness after missing last two games, he picked up Derry dangerman Shane McGuigan in first half. Withdrawn after an hour, Armagh missed him in extra-time. 6.5

Rory Grugan: Two frees before the break but on the edge of the action. Subbed early in first half but came back on for injury-time and so nearly won it for Armagh but didn't have the range with a mark into the wind. 6

Andrew Murnin: Popped up in the Armagh full-back line and in midfield. One chance in first half but he snatched at it. Well marshalled by Eoin McEvoy. 5.5

Rian O’Neill: Plays on the edge at times and needless barge on McGuigan meant crucial free was moved into scoring range. He kept Armagh in it in the first half with three points including their only two from play. He added three more from placed balls including the score that forced the shoot-out. Penalty was saved. 8

Conor Turbitt: Seems to perform best when he's the go-to man in attack. Two wides in the first half were as close as the Clann Eireann forward came to scoring. Found possession hard to come by but turned provider for a Burns score. 5.5

Substitutes:

Stefan Campbell: In for Grugan after 10 minutes of the second half and he took the fight to Derry. Two class scores and he was dragged down for the free that led to the penalty shoot-out. 8

Aidan Nugent: Replaced McPartlan, one shot failed to go the distance. 6

Ross McQuillan: On for the closing stages of normal time for McCambridge. Sent Armagh ahead with a cracker from the right wing. 6

Oisin Conaty: Thrown in to blunt McFaul’s threat. 5

Callum Cumiskey: In for extra-time. Worked hard and scored his penalty. 5

Connaire Mackin: Replaced his brother for the closing stages. 5
