Liatroim’s incredible 2022 journey continues this weekend, and they are sixty minutes away from a historic All-Ireland final appearance.

They travel to Breffni Park today for a date with destiny, as they face Mayo and Connacht champions Tuairín.

Colm Murphy’s men got their hands on a first ever Ulster title earlier this month when they battled past Armagh kingpins Middletown, two goals from Conor McCrickard and PJ Davidson making all the difference in their 2-20 to 0-20 victory.

It was the clubs fourth attempt at a provincial crown, having lost three finals on the bounce in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Tuairín on the other hand are the dominant force in Connacht, having won four of the last five provincial crowns, only losing out to Oranmore-Maree of Galway in 2018.

For all their recent success though, the Mayo men have yet to get over the line at the semi-final stage, coming up short on each of their previous three tries.

That will surely encourage the Down champions backboned by the McCrickard brothers, and Liatroim will certainly give it all they have. They finally got over their Ulster hurdle and will be targeting a brilliant end to a memorable 2022.
