A full investigation is under way into the circumstances surrounding the death of 22-year-old Dean McIlwaine, whose body was found on the Cavehill above Belfast at the weekend.
The massive search for Dean carried out over the previous ten days was a hugely traumatic period for his family, and they will hopefully receive some answers about the background to the tragedy within the near future.
All the ordinary civilian volunteers as well as the emergency services who took part in the comprehensive operation following Dean's disappearance deserve considerable credit for their efforts.
It ultimately had a sad outcome but it was by any standards an outstanding public response in a range of different ways.
