FIFTEEN dogs and three horses have been rescued following a Gardaí operation in Co Tipperary.

A joint-agency search operation was carried out at premises in Clonmel on Wednesday morning alongside Irish Defence Forces based in Cork, the Revenue Customs Service and the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Three caravans suspected of having been stolen were seized, along with a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of €2,000.

Three men and two women were arrested during the operation.

The two women were and one of the males were released without charge and a garda spokesperson said a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Two men remained detained on Wednesday night.

The garda spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing."
