A MAN remains critically ill after being shot through the kitchen window of his house.

The gun attack took place on Monday evening at the home on Parslickstown Green, Mulhuddart, on the outskirts of north-west Dublin.

Gardai said the injured man (38), was apparently hit when a lone gunman fired a number of shots through the kitchen window at the back of the property.

The attacker is believed to have fled the scene in a car.

Gardai said no-one else was hurt in the incident and the injured man was being treated in Connolly Hospital.

The shooting occurred three days after the murder of criminal Mark Desmond in Lucan, west Dublin.

Two handguns were recovered following that killing, including one which had been partially buried in a nearby park.
