The City of Derry International Choir Festival is returning to the north-west in October.

More than 60 choirs from across Europe will take part in the 10th annual City of Derry International Choir Festival this autumn.

The event is celebrating a decade of showcasing choral groups, with performances set to take place at venues across Derry, Strabane and Inishowen in Co Donegal in October.

Derry's Millennium Forum will host a national contest for choirs from across Ireland during the festival, in categories including gospel and jazz.

A contest for choirs from schools in Derry, Strabane and Donegal will also be held during the festival, which will run from October 18 - 22.

Community concerts and pop-up events will take place during the festival's run.

In the first nine years of the festival, over 10,000 singers in more than 350 choirs from across the globe have performed to audiences.

The festival's artistic director Dónal Doherty said “There's real excitement in the office with the arrival of so many entries for our 10th Anniversary festival. What a way to celebrate the journey that both the city and festival have made since 2013, as hundreds of singers warm up for their participation in an exciting celebration of song in locations throughout the beautiful City of Derry and the North-West region.”
