THE Ancient Order of Hibernians has called off its annual St Patrick's Day parade for a second year.

Spokesman Donald McCann said the call was made on health grounds due to the Covid pandemic.

"The decision to cancel was not taken lightly but the health of members, bands and the general public is of concern to us," he said.

"We did not want to put the NHS or others at risk."

The parade was to be held in Toome, Co Antrim, and the decision to cancel was taken by the host division.

Organisers hope to stage the event in Toome in 2023.
