A 23-year-old convicted thief who failed to return to prison after his licence was revoked in January is still on the run, police said.

Maurice Kane was sentenced for a string of crimes including theft and possession of Class B and Class C drugs.

He was released from prison on licence. But his licence was revoked on January 18 after he breached the conditions of his release.

Inspector Antony Frazer appealed to Kane to hand himself in.

"Despite exhaustive attempts to arrest Kane, police have been unable to locate him".

Kane has connections in north and east Belfast and also in Portadown, Co Armagh.

He is described around 173 cm (5' 7') tall, of slim build, with short dirty fair hair.

Anyone who has seen Kane or knows where he is can contact police on 101.
