Woman arrested over Lyra McKee murder released unconditionally

The New IRA have claimed responsibility for the murder of Lyra McKee and apologised to her family

57-year-old woman arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Lyra McKee has been released unconditionally.

It is understood the woman was arrested early on Tuesday in Derry’s Creggan area.

Ms McKee (29), who was originally from Belfast but who lived and worked in Derry, was shot in the head during rioting in the Creggan last Thursday night.

The New IRA has admitted responsibility for the murder and offered "full and sincere apologies" to the journalist's family.
