A CHILD was critically ill in hospital last night following a three-car crash on the A2 Bangor to Belfast road.

A second person was also taken to hospital after the collision at Ballyrobert yesterday afternoon. They remained in a stable condition last night.

The Air Ambulance, paramedics and a doctor attended the crash which was reported at around 3.45pm yesterday.

The child was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

A spokeswoman for the Belfast Trust said the child remained in a critical condition yesterday evening.

The busy A2 dual carriageway was closed in both directions for several hours and was not expected to re-open until late last night.
