THE father of Jack Glenn, who drowned in Derry’s River Foyle, has paid tribute to his son by having his picture tattooed onto his chest.

There was a huge community response after the 23-year-old former youth international cricketer was seen going into the river on February 2.

People from all over Ireland joined daily searches before his body was finally recovered more than seven weeks later.

Now the Derry man’s father, Colin Glenn, has had a picture of his son's face tattooed over his heart.

Mark Logan, of Apache Art and Tattoo Studio, said he had the tattoo done on Monday.

“I know a friend of his, Darren, and had been speaking to him when my wife and I left soup and things down at Camp Jack (the headquarters of the search for Mr Glenn).

"He said Colin wanted to have it done and would come if and when Jack’s body was found.”

Mr Logan said he initially felt nervous about doing such a personal tattoo but felt privileged that Mr Glenn came to him to commemorate his son.
