THE funeral of former News Letter editor Austin Hunter is to be held in Co Down on Monday.

Mr Hunter (64), was knocked down and killed in a road crash in Bahrain at the weekend.

The Co Tyrone born father-of-two and grandfather was on business in the Middle East at the time.

His funeral is to take place at Second Comber Presbyterian Church at 2pm on Monday.

Mr Hunter is survived by his wife Jean, children Simon and Rachael, grandchildren Matthew and Heidi and brother Adrian.

A man has been questioned by police in Bahrain in connection with Mr Hunter's death.

Mr Hunter had a long career in the media, including as a journalist for BBC Northern Ireland and as head of the RUC and subsequently the PSNI press office.

He was working for the not-for-profit organisation Northern Ireland Co-operation Overseas when he died.
