POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road crash in south Belfast.

A 33-year-old man died after a car struck a tree in a one-vehicle collision.

He was travelling in a silver Peugeot 307 which left the Upper Malone Road at around 9.30pmon Thursday.

The road was closed for several hours after the accident but later reopened.

A spokesman for the PSNI said: “An investigation into the incident is under way and police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the silver Peugeot car being driven in the area in the time leading up to the collision to contact officers at Lisburn Road on 101."
