Man killed and two others injured in car crash in Co Monaghan

A man has been killed in a car crash in Co Monaghan on Thursday morning, according to police.

Gardai are at the scene of the two-vehicle crash which happened at Moneygorbet in Castleblaney.

The crash happened at around 6.15am involving a car and a van.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.



His body has since been removed to the mortuary in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The other car passenger, a man aged in his 20s, was injured and has been taken to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the van, a man aged in his 50s, was also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road remains closed and a technical examination of the scene by forensic collision investigators is due to take place. Local diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area are asked to make the footage available to gardai.
