M&S Clocktower Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Marlborough, New Zealand, £11, from £13, until April 10, M&S
This classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was made by local selecting high quality grapes ripened perfectly in the region’s ideal conditions. With bright passion fruit, citrus and herbal flavours highlighted by fragrant floral, honey and grassy characters, this shows a textured palate enriched by a nice freshness and ripe citrus on the finish. Pair this vibrant dry wine with risotto, fish or canapes.
La Corriente Sauvignon Blanc, Chile, £6.50, Asda
The Humboldt current – or La Corriente as it is known in Chile – flows naturally. Travelling along the coast, it helps to cool the vineyards and bring the life and vibrancy that Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is known for. This is a bright and fresh example of the grape, with intense aromatics of ripe citrus fruit with classic herbal notes and juicy passionfruit. It would pair well with grilled chicken or tuna salad.
WINE OF THE WEEK
Argentina Malbec Rosé Uco Valley, Argentina, £5.99, Lidl
Malbec’s deep colour means that if the grape juice is left in contact with the skins for just a few hours, enough colour is extracted to make a fresh, fruity style of Rosé. A dry, yet soft, style with red fruit aromas and complex juicy flavours of white peach, red berry, plum and hints of lychee. It would go well with cold meats or salmon dishes.
