Eats and Beats in the Mournes

NEWCASTLE will showcase more than 60 food and drink outlets next weekend when the Co Down seaside town hosts the new Eats and Beats festival.

As well as homegrown and international food offerings, there will be three music stages, offering more than 40 free performances and fringe events.

At the Homegrown Food Village in Donard Park, there will be cooking demos, food and drink tastings and a range of delicious local produce on offer.

Visit Mourne’s newest food and drink journey, Savour Visit Mourne, will have its finest food and drink experiences on show, including demos from the Great British Menu's Paul Cunningham, creator of 'secret' dining experiences and owner of Mourne Larder and Dundrum’s newest eatery, Scopers.

Visit Mourne’s award winning, local hospitality providers Killeavy Castle Estate, The Cuan and Denvir’s Coaching Inn will also share some of their tasty menu selections.

Producers Castlescreen Farm will provide visitors with the chance to experience the incredible flavour of their exceptional quality produce.

Or if you have a passion for something sweet, artisan bakers and chocolate makers will be in the food village.

There’ll be a tipple or two on offer from our local distilleries and craft breweries - from gin, whiskey and of course the very best beers.

The weekend’s soundtrack will be played out across three stages; on the Homegrown stage expect a mix of rock, gospel, folk, country, blues and punk from musical talent across Ireland.

World music and foodie enthusiasts will delight in tastes and sounds from across the globe in the World Food Village and Stage in Castle Park.

Meanwhile the Rising Stage at The Promenade will host new and upcoming acts.

Eats and Beats will also include family fun activities, a sustainability village, fringe events and the Newcastle Artisan Market.
