More than three and a half centuries after it was founded, a thriving Presbyterian Church is to open a major new community hub.

Carnmoney Church is to open a new centre on September 3 to help it reach beyond the church walls.

It has recently had to extend its Sunday worship to three services to meet growing demand.

The church embarked on the building project after it became increasingly apparent that its existing facilities could not support the scope of the work needed in response to the tangible needs of people.

Extending far beyond the stereotype of a church being a place where people just come to on Sunday, Carnmoney Presbyterian now has a food bank, charity hop and offers full-time debt counselling to those in financial distress as well as a host of other activities during the week as it seeks to demonstrate God's live in practical ways.

The new buildings include a coffee bar, sports facilities and a youth club.
