THE Burren management team has stepped down in the wake of the club’s surprise loss to Carryduff in Sunday’s Down senior football championship semi-final, the Irish News understands.
The 14-time winners were without injured Danny Magill and Liam Kerr but they began the game well and went six points ahead in the early stages. However, the Pairc Esler clash didn’t go according to the script and Carryduff had 10 scorers as they powered to an eight-point (1-9 to 0-20) win.
Afterwards the Burren management team – Stephen O’Hare, Eoin McCartan, Paul Nestor, Colin Holmes and Brendan Hackett – stepped down after two seasons, which included an appearance in last year’s final against Kilcoo, at the helm.
