All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final fixtures in full as Down take on Galway in Newry

Donegal welcome Louth, and Kerry play host to Cavan in the other games involving Ulster sides

DOWN take on Galway in the standout tie of a star-studded All-Ireland Senior Football Championship preliminary quarter-final line-up.



The draw took place on RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland show on Monday morning.

Conor Laverty’s Mournemen take on the Tribesmen at Páirc Esler in Newry after missing out on a quarter-final proper spot to Ulster rivals Monaghan yesterday, as Galway came back against All-Ireland champions to salvage a place in the Championship.

Donegal play host to Louth in their All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final after their tight victory against Mayo sealed a home tie at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey.

After missing out on a last-eight spot to surprise package Meath, Kerry will welcome Cavan to Killarney with the Breffnimen sneaking through to the quarter-finals after Mayo’s elimination via Donegal.

Dessie Farrell’s Dublin will see Cork make the trip north to face the Boys in Blue after they placed second in the group of death behind Armagh, the Rebels took their seat in the knockouts after sending Roscommon home.

These ties will take place this weekend, with the CCCC to confirm the times and venues of these preliminary quarter-finals by this evening (Monday, June 16).

In the Tailteann Cup semi-finals, Fermanagh take on Kildare at Croke Park, with Oisin McConville’s Wicklow taking on Limerick, also at Croke Park.

Those semi-finals will take place at GAA HQ on Sunday, June 22.
