St Mirren ended a run of five straight defeats as goals from Calvin Ramsay and Eseosa Sule secured a 2-1 win over Dundee.
Wing-back Ramsay fired Saints ahead in the 20th minute with his first goal since joining the club on loan in the summer.
Sule doubled the lead for the Buddies in the 57th minute to give his side a real grip of the game.
Dundee pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute through Bradley Fink after a decent spell of pressure but the visitors could not find an equaliser.
St Mirren returned to the Marbill Coaches Stadium for the first time in over a month bidding to end their woeful winless streak while Dundee arrived in Paisley on the back of an impressive 2-2 draw with Rangers.
Craig McLeish made one change from the side that started the 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie with defender Harry Fieldson replacing loanee Paul Nsio. Steven Pressley named an unchanged side from the starting eleven that earned a point last weekend.
St Mirren were first to threaten as the wintry conditions played a role in the early stages. Ismeal Kabia unleashed a shot from the edge of the box, but it was held by Dundee goalkeeper Owen Goodman.
The home side made the breakthrough when Sule broke down the right-hand side before playing the ball across goal into the path of Ramsay, whose shot trickled over the line with the block from Goodman unable to keep it out.
The Saints loanee almost doubled his tally when he rose to meet a free-kick from the left-hand side. His header fell straight into the arms of Goodman, who then spilled the ball before it was scrambled clear.
Sule turned scorer in the second-half to give St Mirren full command of the match. A cross from Killian Phillips was met by the head of the attacker on the edge of the six-yard box to double the home side’s lead.
Dundee pushed to get a foothold back in the game with Ashley Hay bulleting a header narrowly wide from close range.
The visitors did eventually pull a goal back through Fink. St Mirren keeper Jacob Chapman saved the initial shot only for the Dundee striker to knock the ball home at the second attempt.
The away side pushed for an equaliser in the latter stages, but the Buddies held on to claim all three points, much to the delight of a delirious but sodden home crowd.
