Waltham can take another step up the ladder in the Listed Vinnie Roe Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday.

The Roaring Lion colt has impressed on both his wins to date and looks like a very promising staying prospect.

Having won his maiden over a mile-and-a-half at this track in June he followed up last month when taking a competitive rated race in fine style.

The grey powered away in the closing stages then for a wide margin success over a decent field and it was a very good performance under top-weight.

His days in handicaps were numbered after that performance and this is the natural next step.

It's a nice race against his own age group and there looks to be scope for further improvement now stepping up another couple of furlongs.

It's a hot enough little heat and Alexandroupolis is an interesting rival on his return to action.

The Camelot colt was a leading Derby contender over the winter, having made a big impression when winning his maiden at Galway last September.

He was turned over at a short price though on his return this year, when third in the Ballysax Stakes here in early April.

The fact that he hasn't made the racecourse since would be a concern but he could be a danger if stripping for his return.

Harbour Wind was impressive when scoring at Navan last time and the Nathaniel gelding is another that has to be considered.

Stepping up in trip could also bring further improvement from him and he is a progressive sort.

Seamie Heffernan rides Content, of the two Ballydoyle runners, in the opening fillies maiden and she can get her head in front.

The Galileo filly was the one that went into the notebook when third on her debut here in June and was thrown in at the deep end next time at Royal Ascot.

She was a bit keen when finishing down the field in the Chesham Stakes but wasn't actually beaten that far in the hot listed contest.

Back in maiden company now she should prove the one to beat with the experience under her belt.

In the following auction series maiden Heffernan takes the mount on the Natalia Lupini-trained Making Time and the Kessaar filly could give him a quick double.

She has been placed twice from three starts, including most recently at Dundalk and a repeat of that run should be enough to get the job done now.
