Paddy Twomey looks to have found a nice opportunity for Vain Gloria in the median auction race at Cork tonight.

The Kodi Bear filly looked a nice prospect when running out an easy winner on her debut at Killarney 10 days ago and this is a good stepping stone now.

She beat an average enough bunch then but did so in the style of a filly that could move on to better things.

Twomey doesn’t keep too many that aren’t capable of a certain level and he has been patient with Vain Gloria.

The standard in tonight’s contest is set by the 88-rated Kayhana who bids to bounce back after a disappointing effort on her sole run this season.

She was never involved when last of six in a winners race at Killarney in mid-May and was eased inside the final furlong.

The Harzand filly had shown ability at two, winning on debut before a solid run to finish fifth in a strong listed race at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend. She’d be a threat if getting back to that form.

It’s a deep enough race with Curragh maiden winner Pink Sorrel another that has to come into the mix but Vain Gloria is fancied to prove a class act.

The featured €45,000 sprint handicap is a very competitive heat and Running Cool may prove the pick in the five-furlong contest.

Natalia Lupini is enjoying a fine season and this Bobby’s Kitten colt looks very progressive after winning on his last couple of starts.

He won his maiden on good going before following up on rain softened ground over course and distance in handicap company here last month.

The handicapper hit him with a 9lb hike for that success but he was good value for the rise as he powered away going to the line.

There looks to be more to come from the lightly-raced three-year-old and he can land a nice pot for connections now.

So Majestic is another on a hat-trick and has to be respected. Likewise Dun Ne Sea has won her last two but any rain would be a slight concern for her.

The consistent West Of Wichita can get her turn in the opening six-furlong maiden while it looks hard to oppose Torivega in the following maiden. The 98-rated colt takes a drop in grade after some decent runs in stakes company.
