Take Sugaree to enjoy sweet success at Leopardstown

SUGAREE can step forward again to open her account in the opener at Leopardstown today.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained filly stayed on nicely to finish third over course and distance last month, showing a significant improvement from her debut run on softer ground.

It looked a decent maiden here last time and the form got a boost with the runner-up, Scarlett O’Hara, going on to score at the Curragh.

Sugaree is capable of improving again from that effort and the daughter of Camelot looks to have found a nice opportunity to get her head in front now.

Astar sets the standard in the mile-and-a-half fillies event but is becoming a touch frustrating at this stage.

Dermot Weld’s charge has been runner-up on her last three starts, most recently when going down by half a length to Pearl Of Australia at Roscommon.

She steps up to this trip for the first time now and that may help.

Aird is another that has to come into calculations after a nice run to finish third to the aforementioned Scarlett O’Hara at the Curragh, but Sugaree went into the notebook last time and can confirm that promise.

The concluding amateur rider’s maiden over a mile-and-seven is a fascinating contest and Sir Mark Prescott sends a raider over in Whatawit.

This Sahkee gelding has landed a couple of bumpers in Britain but to be fair the two-runner event he won in Ffos Las last time was a bit of a no contest.

He had also been an easy winner of a stronger looking heat at Huntingdon before that and is obviously talented so commands respect. His trainer wouldn’t be sending him over here for the fresh air.

Harry Swan is a positive booking and the yard is currently operating at a very good strike rate.

In the preceding mile-and-a-half maiden Dubawi Delight looks the one to side with.

Jessica Harrington’s charge chased home a smart sort in Trustyourinstinct at the Curragh last time and that was a nice improvement from his debut run.

The winner has gone on to frank the form by taking a hot little conditions event in impressive fashion at Gowran on Sunday.

Dawn Session, who was half a length behind Dubawi Delight that day, has also gone on to win since so the form looks fairly strong.

This looks a nice opportunity now for Harrington’s charge to get his turn.
