Mirazur West looks best of a powerful Willie Mullins team at Fairyhouse

It looks like Willie Mullins could dominate proceedings at Fairyhouse on Wednesday where he has several obvious contenders.

The best horse on show is potentially Mirazur West who makes his second outing over timber in the two-mile maiden hurdle.

He was impressive when winning a bumper at Naas last March and is very highly regarded in Closutton.

On his hurdling debut at Leopardstown on St Stephen’s Day he ran freely and was a bit novicey, jumping right at a couple in the back straight.

He was no match for the more experienced King Of Kingsfield on the day but improvement will be expected with that run under his belt.

The full-brother to Ferny Hollow remains an exciting prospect and can get back on track now.

He won’t get it all his own way though, with D B Cooper a genuine danger in the field.

The Getaway gelding ran well on his hurdling debut at Leopardstown when chasing home No Flies On Him in a strong heat. He is also open to further improvement.

Mirazur West could end up short enough and O’moore Park may prove a bit more value in the maiden hurdle over just shy of two-and-a-half miles.

He went to post an odds-on shot on his return from a lengthy enough absence here last month and just faded a touch late on having travelled well into the straight.

That was over three miles so it’s no surprise to see him dropping back in trip and the Walk In The Park gelding, a £240,000 purchase, can start to fulfil his early promise.

He won a point-to-point back in October 2021 and was narrowly beaten in a bumper the following month. After a couple of placed efforts for Mullins he was on the sidelines for a while.

It was a promising effort and he is fancied to build on that.

In the preceding mares’ maiden over the same trip, Jolie Coeur Allen can get off the mark after a couple of placed efforts.

She hasn’t finished off her races after looking like the winner on her two starts this season but this looks like a good opportunity to get her over the line now.

Only four go to post in the novice hurdle and Mullins can also strike here with Spread Boss Ted.

He improved nicely to win on his second outing over timber at Navan and that looked a solid effort as he beat a couple of useful yardsticks.
