MARK Allen labelled snooker as “all about results” after beating Ali Carter 6-3 to book a place in Sunday’s final of the Johnstone’s Paint Players Championship at the Telford International Centre.

The Antrim cueman will face either England’s Mark Selby or China’s Zhang Anda, who meet in the second semi-final of the £385,000 tournament on Saturday night.

Allen and Carter were level at 2-2 at the interval. The following two frames were shared before the World number three won the next three frames to clinch victory in a scrappy affair.

“I wasn’t on it at all, my timing was awful. I thought Ali played better than me,” the 38-year-old said.

“If you think it looked like hard work, it felt a lot worse.

“I’m not happy with how I felt and how I played out there, but it’s all about results and I’m in the final.”
