MARK Allen will take on Ali Carter in an intriguing semi-final of the Johnstone’s Paint Players Championship at the Telford International Centre on Friday night.
The Antrim cueman - on his 38th birthday and in his 700th professional match - won three of the final four frames to beat new Welsh Open champion Gary Wilson 6-4 in the last eight.
Allen went 2-0 up before Wilson claimed the third frame and then battled back to 3-3.
‘The Pistol’ though roared clear to move into the last four of the £385,000 tournament.
Allen had racked up three centuries in the first three frames on his way to an impressive 6-3 win over Mark Williams in the first round on Tuesday.
Mark Selby, meanwhile, moved through to the last four with a stunning 6-0 thrashing of Ronnie O’Sullivan.
