Meath star Vikki Wall set for Rugby switch

MEATH Ladies star Vikki Wall looks set to join the Irish Women’s Rugby 7s side with a view to playing in the Olympics in Paris next summer.

It is understood that the IRFU are closing in on a deal to sign Wall which will see her leave Australian club North Melbourne.

The two-time All-Ireland winner joined the AFLW side in 2022, alongside Cork Ladies star Erika O’Shea, and played all 13 games for the club in her debut season, scoring six goals.

Wall signed a two-year deal with the Kangaroos shortly after completing back-to-back All-Ireland success with Meath last July.

However, the 25-year-old was back in league action for her county in March and was involved in their recent championship campaign.

Wall returned home to play for Meath in the All-Ireland championship, but the Royals lost their crown to Kerry last weekend, in a repeat of last year’s final.

Wall has been heavily involved in the rising of Meath Ladies football and was named as Footballer of the Year in 2021.

Ireland booked their ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics following a 10-5 win over Fiji at the Toulouse Sevens in May.
