Tyrone and Meath will renew acquaintances on July 11 after being drawn together in this morning’s Round 2B Football Qualifier draw.

The old rivals last played in a fourth-round qualifier match in 2013, Tyrone prevailing 0-17 to 2-09.

Tyrone come into the game after a facile win over Limerick in yesterday’s qualifier at Healy Park, winning by a nine-point margin 1-14 to 0-8.

Meath, however, are at an all-time low after being defeated yesterday to Westmeath for the first time ever in the championship. In their Leinster semi-final Meath threw away a 10-point lead and the game eventually finished 3-19 to 2-18 in a remarkable turnaround.

The prospect of playing Tyrone has the potential to re-energise Meath, but the Red Hands have home advantage and will be expected to progress.

The draw also revealed that on July 11 Armagh host Galway at the Athletic Grounds and Tipperary are at home to Louth.
