AN emotional Brendan Dolan is targeting the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix after lifting his first ranking title win for nearly two years at the Players Championship 10 in Germany.

The Belcoo arrow artist defeated Sweden’s Jeffrey de Graaf 8-4 in the final of Players Championship 10 in Hildesheim, collecting the £15,000 top prize and greatly boosting his chances of qualification for the prestigious World Matchplay in July and World Grand Prix, having reached the final of the latter in Dublin back in 2011 when producing his historic first ever televised double-in nine dart finish.

Dolan’s impressive run to the final included victories over two-time world champion Peter Wright and Derry’s Daryl Gurney as well as Robert Grundy, Franz Roetzsch and Graham Hall.

Dolan said: “So pleased to be back in the winners enclosure. That’s a lot of pressure off the shoulders. Thanks to all my sponsors and fans for the continued support.

“It’s an absolutely brilliant feeling. All I’ve been thinking about over the last few months is trying to qualify for the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix.

“That’s what I have been striving for, and thankfully I am really close to achieving that now,” added the 50-year-old World number 27 who clinched the title with a 109 checkout.
