ARMAGH have been dealt a hammerblow to their prospects for Sunday’s final round Division One clash with Tyrone and the Ulster Championship after it emerged that Rian O’Neill has been injured.

The versatile Crossmaglen star tore his quad muscle at training on Tuesday night and is facing six-to-eight weeks on the sidelines. Joint-captain O’Neill has been Armagh’s top-scorer in the League this season and has also been used as a ball-winner in midfielder and a tower-of-strength in the Orchard County defence.

Armagh travel to Omagh on Sunday and defeat against Tyrone will mean they will be relegated should Monaghan beat Mayo in Castlebar.

One piece of positive news for Armagh is that Maghery midfielder Ben Crealey could be fit to face the Red Hands who have posted back-to-backs wins after an uncertain start to the League season.
