Kilmacud Croke’s have formally lodged an appeal against the GAA’s decision to order a replay of their All-Ireland Club SFC final win over Glen.

The Central Competition Control Committee announced on Tuesday morning that they were ordering a replay in light of an objection by Glen after it was discovered that Kilmacud had 16 players on the pitch in the dying minutes of the game in Croke Park on January 22.

The Dublin club had launched a counter objection to the Derry and Ulster champions’ original appeal and in light of Tuesday’s decision, have now chosen to appeal.

The GAA’s Central Hearings Committee will hear the Leinster champions' appeal in the coming days before announcing a ruling.

In a brief statement issued on Friday afternoon, the GAA said:

"In response to queries received, the GAA can confirm that an appeal has been lodged from CLG Cill Mochuda na Crócaigh against the decision of the CCCC to order a replay of the AIB All-Ireland Club Football final. The CAC will hear the appeal in the coming days."

If either club objects to the CHC’s decision, there remains the option to appeal the matter further to the Dispute Resolution Authority.

Kilmacud were awarded the Andy Merrigan Cup following their 1-11 to 1-9 over first-time finalists Glen but it later emerged that Croke’s player Dara Mullin had not left the field when a substitute for him was brought on.
