ARMAGH recorded their second win in Division Three of the National League with a 9-17 to 0-1 victory over Cavan at the Athletic Grounds yesterday.

Niamh Markey got Armagh off to the perfect start when she blasted the ball into the Cavan net after great set-up play by Ciara Donnelly.

Shelly McArdle, Rachael Merry and Ciara Donnelly were all causing problems for the Cavan defence and they extended Armagh’s lead before Markey added her second goal of the game.

Grainne Kelly pointed to give Armagh a 3-14 to no-score half-time lead.

The second half saw Cavan break through the Armagh defence but Nicole Conway and Hannah McGeown stayed strong. The Breffni girls were rewarded for their efforts when Katie Smith got them off the mark.

Sarah Molloy hit Armagh’s first score of the second half with Ciara Donnelly grabbing 1-1 before Markey added a goal.

Substitute Leanne Donnelly made the most of the first ball that came her way by scoring a goal and Markey once again made her presence felt at full-forward by scoring two more goals in the space of a minute.

The final score of the game came from Leanne Donnelly as she raised the green flag for the second time to give the Orchard girls a 43-point win.

Chloe Morey hit 10 points as Clare recorded a win over Wexford in Division One. The Bannerwomen trailed by three points, 0-9 to 0-6, at half-time, with Linda Bolger keeping the hosts in front.

Niamh O’Dea goaled after 40 minutes to put the Munster side in front and they never looked back. Morey kept the scoreboard ticking over with four points and Wexford never threatened the goal they needed to get back into contention.

There were wins for Milford and Cahir in the AIB All-Ireland Senior and Intermediate Club Camogie finals respectively.

Second half goals from Maria Watson and Laura Stack helped Milford see off Killimor.

Killimor captain Annmarie Starr thought she had got her side within a point when she goaled in the 39th minute but she was adjudged to have over-carried the ball.

The Cork side’s response was immediate as they went up the other end of the field for Watson to goal to open up a seven-point lead.

Laura Stack killed off the Galway side’s hope when she goaled eight minutes from time to ensure Milford a third title in four years.

In the intermediate decider, Cahir recorded a commanding nine-point win over Eyrecourt, 0-14 to 1-2.

The Tipperary side hit three points inside four minutes, Aishling Moloney and Róisin Howard grabbing the scores.

Molly Dunne responded with a point for the Galway side but it was Cahir who lead 0-6 to 0-1 at the break.

Substitute Vivien McEvoy gave Eyrecourt a lifeline when she raised the green flag at the start of the second half but Cahir continued to dominate proceedings, hitting six points to seal the victory.
