Farah leads England team for Glasgow

DOUBLE Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah (right) will compete in both the 5,000m and 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Farah has been included in the 129-strong England athletics team which also includes Olympic champions Greg Rutherford and Christine Ohuruogu, although the latter will only run the 4x400m relay.

The selection is not without controversy, with two top sprinters failing to secure a spot.

Chijindu Ujah is overlooked despite having run the 100m in 9.96 seconds at the FBK Games in the Netherlands earlier this month, but it seems he was not considered for the individual 100m because his effort came just after the qualification cut-off period which ended on 1 June.

The 20-year-old has also declined a spot in the 4x100m relay squad, preferring to concentrate on the European Championships, which begin in Zurich shortly after the end of the Commonwealth Games. Also omitted is James Dasaolu, despite recovering from hamstring problems.

Dasaolu ran 9.91 seconds last year, Britain's second fastest ever 100m, but there is no room for him in the team for Glasgow.
