BARRY McGuigan quashed rumours that Carl Frampton turned
down the opportunity to face Jhonatan Romero - the man Kiko Martinez beat to win his world title last Saturday night.
"He wasn't offered the fight," said the Clones man.
"That fight would never have happened, they didn't want any part of Frampton because we would have taken that fight in a heartbeat.
"Guess what would have happened? Frampton would have knocked him out even quicker than Martinez (the fight was waved off in the sixth round).
"The way Carl beat him shows the fighter that Carl Frampton is.
"I've always believed that we was a world champion in the making and it's just a matter of time as far as we're concerned."
