Relief over Patrick King's recovery

The outcome of cases involving young people who sustain traumatic brain injuries can be completely unpredictable so there will be enormous relief that Co Down teenager Patrick King has made an excellent recovery after his involvement in a cycling accident last month.

Patrick (15), the son of former GAA star Shane King, was left in intensive care and placed in an induced coma after coming off his mountain bike at Kilbroney Forest Park in Rostrevor.

His father said yesterday that Patrick's improvement had been "phenomenal", and, after his discharge from hospital, was hoping to return to school within a matter of weeks.

Enormous credit is due to the medical professionals who have helped to ensure that he has progressed so firmly in the right direction.
