ALMOST four months after 89 people were killed by Islamic extremists at their concert, Eagles of Death Metal singer Jesse Hughes has expressed suspicion about security at the event.

Speaking to Fox Business Network, he suggested that around six guards at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris “had a reason” not to show up for work on the night of the attack.

He refused to elaborate any further out of “respect” for the police inquiry, but said he had already been concerned about staff at the venue.

He told the show: “When I first got to the venue and walked in, I walked past a dude who was supposed to be a security guard for the backstage and he didn’t even look at me.

“I immediately went to the promoter and said ‘Who’s that guy? I want to put another dude on’ and he said ‘Well, some of the other guys aren’t here yet’.

“Eventually I found out that six or so wouldn’t show up at all.”

A string of co-ordinated terror attacks by so-called Islamic State across the French capital on November 13 2015, left 129 dead.

The shooting at the Bataclan accounted for the majority of the casualties. The band’s merchandise manager, Briton Nick Alexander, was among those killed.

When pressed on why he thought the security guards had not appeared at the concert that night, he said: “Out of respect for the police still investigating, I won’t make a definite statement, but I will say it seems rather obvious they had a reason not to show up.”
