A man in his 80s has been killed in a road collision in Co Wexford.

Gardaí said the man, who was a pedestrian, was involved in an incident with a vehicle close to Gorey at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

A spokesperson said the man was fatally injured as a result of the collision.

“His body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place in due course,” they said.

“The scene of the collision is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. Diversions are in place.”

An appeal has been made for witnesses and camera footage.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and who were travelling in the vicinity of Aske at the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to gardai at Gorey Garda Station on 053 942 1222.
